Now Registering For Summer Camp 2014!
Successful Beginnings Learning Center’s Summer Camp Program is designed to provide a safe, fun and exciting environment for your child, while continuing to help them explore and discover the world around them. While at our center, your child will have the opportunity to participate in different weekly themes with engaging activities, educational field trips and projects with their friends.
Our teachers work together to develop our Summer Camp Curriculum to highlight all of the entertainment summertime has to offer. The campers can be found playing games, exploring topics, and enriching their knowledge by exploring parks, zoos, museums, and aquariums. The children will stretch their creative minds through arts, crafts, music, and play, all while continuing their educational journey through reading, math, and science.
Below are the themes for our 2014 Summer Camp. So what are you waiting for? Sign your child up for a summer to remember!
Blast Off To Summer
During the first week, campers are introduced to many of the activities and topics covered in more detail in later weeks. (Getting to know each other and the daily routine)
It’s all about animals! Animals have many characteristics that make them unique to their species. Campers will explore and learn about animals and their habitats. Campers will visit Lincoln Park Zoo and visit mammals, birds, reptiles, amphibians, snakes, and hope to see animals new to the zoo this year such as the Black Rhinoceros and the Spotted Hyena.
Learning about Big City Life! Campers will learn about life in the urban areas of Chicago. Campers will visit the Hershey Chocolate Factory and experience being a factory worker for a day and creating a mix of everyone’s favorite HERSHEY’S products. Also, campers will visit and experience Gino’s East Pizza.
Happy Birthday USA
Campers will learn about Independence Day and have a good old fashion Birthday Party celebrating the USA’s 238 Birthday as an independent nation. A Celebration for the Red, White and Blue!
Who wants to be an actor or actress? Campers learn about the movie making process and the types of movies. Everyone loves a good movie. Campers take a visit to the local theater to view an age appropriate film.
We’ll venture into the past to explore the world of the dinosaurs. Campers will visit to the Field Museum where we may run into the largest, most complete and preserved Tyrannosaurus Rex ever discovered, SUE.
Splashing into Fun
Summer is not complete without all the water fun a kid can stand! This week will focus on all our favorite games and activities to keep us cool when the temperatures rise, and we don’t dry off until it is time to go home.
Super Fun Week
Let’s keep the fun going. This week is all about fun activities, games and challenges complete with a visit from the Super Fun Bus.
Under the Sea
Anyone for a game of sharks and minnows? Want to make a Soctopus? Feel like challenging Neptune? Mermaids, shells, fish, whales, and did we mention SHARKS abound as we explore life under the sea through nature and craft projects, storytelling, skits, and friendly competitions. Of course, no Under the Sea week would be complete without a visit to the Shedd Aquarium to see under water creatures in action!
Rock N’ Summer
Let’s go out with a blast. Campers will prepare for their end of summer celebration! (Picnic, Rock Star Talent Show)
It’s all about Kid’s Choice. In the final days of the summer break, children will have the choice of how they want to spend the days. Teachers will lead activities based on the camper’s ideas!
